Now Luci Him Now you Don't

Now Luci Him, Now You Don’t is a Disenchantment comic first published in "Disenchantment: Untold Tales Vol. 1".

Chronology[]

This story is set at least after The Dreamland Job as Luci is already owner of his own tavern, but likely before “The Electric Princess” as Zøg is not descending into madness yet.

Plot[]

After a long day of working in his tavern, Luci retires for the night but finds his bed occupied by Hobo, a friend of Elfo. Luci kicks him out and has a heated argument with Elfo. When Elfo complains that he might as well be invisible to Luci, this gives Luci an idea.

The next day, Zøg informs Bean that King Lorenzo I and Queen Bunny are coming over for the weekend, and Zøg wants Bean to be the perfect host so she can make up for what she did to Guysbert and Merkimer. Bean doesn’t feel like hosting the visit, but has no choice. Assisted by Bunty and under supervision of Odval she starts preparations. Meanwhile, Luci tricks Elfo into drinking a candy-drink, and then lies to him that the drink was a potion that supposedly renders Elfo invisible and inaudible to anyone. To further convince Elfo, Luci has all the patrons in his tavern play along and pretend they cannot see Elfo. Elfo falls for it and decides to have som fun with his new invisibility.

While Elfo commits various forms of mischief, the royals of Bentwood arrive at the castle and Bean does her best to pleas them. During dinner, Elfo enters and begins to taunt the guests, believing they can’t see him anyway. That is until Bean calls him out on his behavior, making Elfo realize he is visible after all. Lorenzo and Zøg get into an argument over Elfo’s insults. Bean, who realizes this is Luci’s work, forces him to set things right. Luci thus serves the royals a drink that puts them to sleep, after which they send the sleeping Lorenzo I and Bunny back to Bentwood. Luci apologizes to Elfo and offers them a nightcap to celebrate, but he’s obviously up to something again.
